4th Place in the French Sun
1st October 2007
For the penultimate round of the season, the FIA GT Championship came to Nogaro
at the 29th / 30th of September. In the south of France, at the Paul Armagnac
circuit Jamie Davies and his team mate Fabio Babini were fighting for a better
position and more points in the FIA GT1 Championship.
Jamie: “We tested at Nogaro in March, but I don’t think it will
give us a big advantage as the weather was so poor during the test day, so
hopefully it won’t be representative of what we’ll face during
the race. I know the track as I’ve done Formula 3 and F3000 testing there.
The circuit is tight and twisty in places; I hope the Aston will be quick there
but we’ll have to see.”
The weather conditions were better this time than during the test. The sun
was shining and it was warm. The qualifying finished with a 5th place for Jamie
and Fabio.
Fabio Babini drove the start of the race and gave the car to Jamie in 6th
position. Jamie made up some places and gave the car back to Fabio in the 2nd
mandatory pit Stop in 4th place. The Winner of the race was Hezemans and Deletraz
with the no 5 Carsport Holland Corvette C6-R ahead of both Vitaphone Maserati
MC 12’s with the no 1 and 2.
Jamie: “I'm not really happy because I want to be on the podium all
the time but a 4th place gives us 5 points for the Championship and shows that
we can set up the car very good on some circuits. I want to thank Pirelli because
they gave us a perfect tyre for this race.”
