First Official FIA GT Test 2007 in Monza
23rd February 2007
The first official test of the FIA GT in 2007 took place on the 22nd and 23rd
of February in Monza.
Three sessions were held on the track for the GT1 and GT2 cars, with a total
of 20 cars. The best time of both test days was set by the no. 23 Aston Martin
Racing BMS DBR9, of Fabio Babini and Jamie Davies, in the third and final session.
The car was also fastest in the other two sessions. Second fastest was the
Racing Alliance Aston Martin DBR9 followed by the All-Inkl.com Lamborghini
Murcielago.
Jamie Davies: “I am really happy with the two test days; it’s
a good start for the new season. The car feels ok and I enjoy working with
Pirelli and BMS. I am looking forward to the next test before the first race
in Zhuhai to get more used to the car. Fabio said that he needed some time
last year to get used to the different driving style which the Aston needs
compared to the Maserati which we both drove before but I am quiet happy with
my performance at the moment.”
