Can the Vitaphone Racing Team Win the 24h Again?
25th July 2006
From Saturday the 29th to Sunday the 30th of July one of the highlights in
the FIA GT Championship 2006 will take place at the 58th Proximus 24 Hours
of Spa.
Jamie Davies travels to Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) with huge expectations.
As the third driver in 2005 Jamie joined the Vitaphone Racing Team for this
important race in the FIA GT Championship. Together with Fabio Babini and Thomas
Biagi they earned a lot of points in the Maserati MC 12 to help the team win
the team championship. After 17 hours of being second during the whole race,
the car stopped with gearbox problems. Even with this frustrating message for
the team they still had the other car leading and after 24 hours the team won
this extraordinary race in the FIA GT Championship. It was an important win
for Maserati and Pirelli.
The fastest lap of the race belonged to Jamie Davies.
What will happen in 2006?
Jamie: “The circuit in Spa-Francorchamps is good fun and the atmosphere
is fantastic. With so many fans around the track this race is motorsport at
its best and fun all the way through. The test at the beginning of the month
was very good and along with Maserati and Pirelli we sorted the best equipment
for the race. I think our chance of being successful in this race is very high
but we will need the support of our fans during the 24 hours because these
long races have their own dynamics.”
